Australian Solar Pioneer Wins Top UK Engineering Prize

Martin Green, a pioneering solar researcher, has received the Faraday Medal from the UK's Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) for his outstanding achievements in solar PV.

Green, known as the "father of modern PV," is a Scientia Professor at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney. He led the UNSW teams that developed passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) technology, increasing the conversion efficiency of standard solar cells by over 50%.

He is recognised for transforming solar power from an expensive and niche technology to the world's cheapest and most scalable source of electricity.
