The Scottish Government has provided a £20m rescue package to move the project forward.
The concert hall, commissioned by IMPACT Scotland, will serve as a permanent home for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and a major base for the Edinburgh International Festival.
Originally, Sir Robert McAlpine was lined up for the job, but exited last spring due to ballooning costs, which rose from the initial £45m estimate by architects Chipperfield and Reiach & Hall.
Balfour Beatty was brought in to develop a build strategy for the complex city-centre site.
The deal was sealed after the Scottish Government stepped in with a £20m rescue package for the project.
