Brian and Kimberly Johnson's house caught fire after a lightning strike, prompting an outpouring of support from the community.
Battalion Fire Chief Brian Johnson, a DOD firefighter at Eglin Air Force Base, experienced an emergency from a different perspective when his home was hit by lightning on September 25.
"I heard the breaker trip in the laundry room, so I went and checked on it, and then I started walking around the house to see if I noticed the power being out or if anything was scorched or damaged,"
Brian said. He immediately called 911 after discovering smoke pouring from the breaker box.
