E.ON Group, an energy company, has signed a five-year deal with Nokia to modernize its mission-critical communications infrastructure.
The initial project in Germany is expected to set a blueprint for other units in Europe. Nokia's upgraded network will reduce energy consumption, cutting power use by up to 50% compared to the current IP and optical infrastructure.
Nokia will provide the full suite of next-generation networking solutions, including IP routing and switching, optical transport, fixed broadband access, and network automation.
The new equipment will improve security, operational resilience, scalability, operational flexibility, and responsiveness for E.ON's distribution system operators.
