CarMax has laid off hundreds of employees, including two dozen locally, in its second round of job cuts in 14 months.
The company, headquartered in Goochland's West Creek Business Park, confirmed that approximately 350 employees received termination notices, including 25 in the Richmond area.
The layoffs occurred in the Customer Experience Center, which assists customers in the car buying and selling process.
“We recently conducted a comprehensive review of our CECs and have determined that the reorganization of the CECs will help us best serve our customers and strengthen our business for the future,”
CarMax said in a prepared statement. This is at least the second bunch of job cuts by the company since summer 2024, when it let go of 415 employees, including 14 locally.
