Police Standoff in Downtown Boise Investigated as Medical Emergency
A traffic accident in downtown Boise has led to a police standoff, which is now being investigated as a possible medical emergency by the Idaho State Police.
On Thursday, at approximately 4:30, dispatchers received reports of a pickup truck driving erratically on eastbound I-84. The truck struck another car and a concrete barrier before merging onto the I-184 Connector, heading into downtown Boise.
- The truck crashed in the intersection of Myrtle and 11th St.
- The driver refused to respond to verbal commands to exit the vehicle.
- Police released a drone and set up a perimeter around the vehicle.
The driver continued to refuse communication with the police and exit the vehicle for over an hour.
