Eden Prairie Schools has confirmed that the University of Minnesota's decision to no longer host high school graduation ceremonies will not impact the district.
The University of Minnesota announced that it will no longer host high school graduations at its campus venues, effective immediately. The 3M Arena at Mariucci, which hosted 24 high school graduations over a few weeks last school year, will no longer be available for this purpose.
Hosting more than 20 outside events with thousands of attendees over a two-week period represents a significant strain on the university’s limited resources that is no longer sustainable.
A U spokesperson cited the strain on resources as the reason for this decision. Despite this change, Eden Prairie Schools will not be affected.
