A powerful coastal storm is expected to hit the Philadelphia region, bringing heavy rains and gusts up to 60 mph. New Jersey has declared a state of emergency, effective 11 p.m. Saturday, and forecasters warn of a "nasty" weekend.

According to Paul Fitzsimmons, a lead meteorologist at the National Weather Service Office in Mount Holly, the storm may last through Monday. The weather service has issued advisories and watches, including the potential for "major" flooding along the Jersey coast.
