To celebrate Stranger Things Day on November 6, Netflix released an exclusive preview of the upcoming animated series Stranger Things: Tales From ’85. This date commemorates when Will Byers disappeared in Hawkins, Indiana, back in 1983.
The animated series is set to premiere on Netflix in 2026. It returns viewers to Hawkins during the harsh winter of 1985, where familiar characters face new terrifying monsters and uncover a paranormal mystery threatening their town.
Creators Matt and Ross Duffer discuss the concept in a new featurette, explaining how the project began as a tribute to classic 1980s cartoons. They highlight the freedom the animated format gave showrunner and executive producer Eric Robles and his team to explore bold new storytelling directions.
“When we started talking about, was there anything else we wanted to do with Stranger Things, this was one of our first ideas,” Ross Duffer shares.
This new animated Stranger Things series revisits Hawkins in 1985, blending nostalgia with fresh stories and vibrant animation to expand the beloved universe.
