"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."
Angus Provost Craig Fotheringham announced that on Remembrance Sunday, 9 November, services and parades will be held across Angus. Wreaths will be laid in honour of those who gave their lives defending our freedoms.
He urged everyone who is able to take some time to join local events and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. For those unable to attend, he encouraged a moment of quiet reflection alone or with loved ones to remember the fallen.
Tuesday, 11 November, marks Armistice Day, offering another chance to honor the sacrifices. At 11 a.m., whether at home or work, people are invited to pause for two minutes of silence to pay tribute to the bravery and selflessness of our Armed Services.
"We must and will remember them."
Fotheringham also expressed gratitude to current service men and women serving near and far, affirming that as they protect the nation, the community will support them.
He acknowledged the difficult recent years, marked by the harsh realities of war shared through various media.
