ViaSat-3 F2 delayed

ViaSat-3 F2 Launch Delayed by 24 Hours

Viasat’s latest satellite, the second in the company’s planned fleet expansion, experienced a 24-hour launch delay. The ViaSat-3 F2 spacecraft was originally scheduled to lift off on November 5th from Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket.

“We will not continue with countdown operations,” announced ULA Launch Director James Whelan.

The launch was scrubbed after engineers encountered a problem while cycling the booster’s liquid oxygen tank vent valve during final checks. The next launch attempt is now set for November 6th at 10:16 p.m. EST, at the start of a 44-minute window.

Once launched, the rocket will require approximately three and a half hours to reach its geostationary transfer orbit, where the satellite will conduct testing before proceeding to its final orbital position.
