Inverness prepares to pay tribute on Remembrance Sunday

Communities across the Inverness area will gather this weekend to honor those who lost their lives in conflict. Hundreds are expected to attend the city’s main Remembrance Sunday parade and service at the Cavell Gardens war memorial.

Across towns and villages, people will come together at local war memorials to reflect and pay respect to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Details of the Parade

Sunday’s parade in Inverness will include members of the Royal British Legion Scotland (RBLS), veterans, cadet organizations, young people, politicians, and civic leaders. Participants will form on Huntly Street at 2:20 p.m.

This year’s event will also feature motorcyclists from the Highland Riders’ Branch of the RBLS. The parade will proceed across the River Ness to the war memorial, where the service of Remembrance will begin at 3:00 p.m.

The ceremony will include a two-minute silence, the laying of wreaths, and readings by pupils from Charleston Academy.
