Jasprit Bumrah finished with figures of 2/26 from four overs in the second T20I against Australia at the MCG on October 31, but his wickets came too late to impact the result.
Former Indian batter Robin Uthappa noted that Bumrah loses his rhythm when trying too hard to take wickets, a flaw evident during India’s defeat. India struggled with the bat on a lively pitch, being bowled out for just 125 in 18.4 overs, thanks to a relentless performance by Josh Hazlewood and Australian bowlers.
“When we were bowling after scoring 125, the start was very important. If we had picked up two or three wickets in the first three or four overs, the game could have been closer because we have quality spinners in the middle overs. I felt we were probably trying too hard to pick up wickets. So we got a little wayward.”
Uthappa shared this insight on Star Sports, highlighting how Bumrah’s eagerness affected his control early in the innings.
Jasprit Bumrah’s tendency to lose accuracy when desperate for wickets contributed to India’s defeat in the second T20I against Australia, as early breakthroughs slipped away and momentum shifted.
