Livinia Nixon will be stepping down from her position as 9News Melbourne's weather presenter, concluding a 20-year chapter in the role. Her last weather bulletin is scheduled for Tuesday, 18 November.
“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
Having joined the Nine Network in 1997 and serving as the weather presenter since 2004, Nixon explained her decision by emphasizing the importance of supporting her two sons as they enter crucial years in high school.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them.”
Although she will no longer present the nightly weather, Nixon will remain involved with the network by appearing on Nine’s travel programs, Getaway and Postcards.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,” she said. “When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
Livinia Nixon leaves her weather presenting post at 9News Melbourne after 20 years to focus on family, while remaining an active presence on Nine’s travel shows.
