Health experts warn that thousands could die from flu this winter as NHS leaders issue an urgent SOS alert, urging vaccination.
“There is no doubt this winter will be one of the toughest our staff have ever faced,” said Sir Jim Mackey, NHS chief executive, referencing upcoming resident doctor strikes.
Claire Nevinson, superintendent pharmacist at Boots, highlights that getting vaccinated is one of the best ways to protect against flu and limit virus spread.
“Those eligible for NHS flu jabs should book their appointment as soon as possible, and those not eligible can access the vaccine as a paid service,” Claire said.
At Boots, flu vaccinations are priced at £21.95. Similar services are also available at Superdrug, Tesco, and Well Pharmacy.
Summary: The NHS is facing a severe flu season with rising deaths and staff challenges; experts strongly recommend timely vaccination to protect individuals and reduce transmission.
