Free agent outfielder Leody Taveras has agreed to a one-year, $2 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles, as reported by Jon Heyman of the New York Post and Spanish broadcaster Mike Rodriguez.
The 27-year-old switch-hitting centerfielder appeared in 58 games this season for Seattle and Texas, posting a batting average of .205 with three home runs, 17 RBIs, and a .530 OPS. He also stole nine bases in 12 attempts.
In 2024, Taveras played 151 games for the Texas Rangers, batting .229 with 12 home runs, 44 RBIs, and a .641 OPS, along with 23 stolen bases in 29 attempts.
After June 7, Taveras did not play in the major leagues. The Mariners assigned him to Triple-A Tacoma, where he excelled with a .280 average, .804 OPS, 11 home runs, 69 RBIs, and 23 stolen bases in 24 attempts.
The Orioles will need to clear a spot on their 40-man roster to finalize his signing.
