Sony introduced cloud gaming to the Portal a year ago, but it was limited to beta and a small selection of games. Now, the biggest update since launch lets you play hundreds of games without needing the Portal connected to a PS5 or PS5 Pro, and my tests show the gameplay is mostly lag-free.
Sony has greatly expanded its streaming library, providing access to a large portion of your owned games. More than a thousand titles are reportedly supported, accessible in a new Your Library section. Selecting a game loads it eventually, ready for play.
As a games and tech writer with a sizable PS5 and classic game collection, I found it hard to identify missing titles. Over a hundred games appeared immediately after updating the Portal, many of which I'd owned for years but had forgotten about.
