Two young actors from Greater Manchester have secured roles in Channel 4’s anticipated drama Summerwater, premiering Sunday, 16 November. Bertie Wallwork, 10, from Salford, and Emily Briscoe, 12, from Wigan, train at Ross Adams’ Small Screen Talent acting academy, which offers courses in Manchester and Wigan.
Bertie has a notable screen presence, with credits including Ted Lasso (Apple TV) and Pushers (Channel 4), as he continues to grow his career. For Emily, this is her first professional television appearance. Ross Adams, Small Screen Talent Principal and their mentor, expresses confidence in their future success.
“Both Bertie and Emily are incredibly talented young performers with a natural instinct for screen work,” says Ross Adams. “To be cast in a Channel 4 drama of this calibre is a huge achievement, and to work alongside legends like Shirley Henderson and Dougray Scott at such a young age will be an experience they’ll never forget.”
Summerwater is a six-part drama adapted from Sarah Moss’s best-selling novel. The script was written by Utopia’s John Donnelly and directed by Robert McKillop and Fiona Walton, both experienced in TV drama.
Both veteran actors add star power to the series alongside the promising young talents.
This new Channel 4 drama blends seasoned actors with rising stars from Greater Manchester, showcasing fresh talent alongside established names in a well-crafted adaptation of a popular novel.
