Robbie Williams has resurrected the iconic 1990s TV show The Word for the music video of his new single Pretty Face from the upcoming album Britpop. The original show aired on Channel 4 between 1990 and 1995, known for its unconventional musical guests and cutting-edge energy.
Although Williams never appeared on the show during its original run, he decided to pay tribute by recreating the experience in his latest video, effectively taking viewers "back to the 1990s."
“This is my ‘DeLorean Moment’ back to 1995... The Word was the late-night gateway to so many – Nirvana, Oasis, Happy Mondays… If Britpop is the album I would have made, then this would have been the TV show… now a (virtual) reality.”
Pretty Face marks the fourth single from Britpop, following Rocket, Spies, and Human. The album features collaborations with Chris Martin of Coldplay, Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes, and Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi. It is scheduled for release on February 6, 2026, after a prior delay from its original October 3 launch date.
Robbie Williams honors the spirit of 1990s culture by reviving the classic show The Word for his 'Pretty Face' video, blending Britpop nostalgia with modern creativity.
