The Duke of Sussex has rejected suggestions that his announcement of a visit to Canada was intended to overshadow Prince William's trip to Brazil. The timing coincided with Prince William's five-day Earthshot Prize tour in Rio de Janeiro.
"The clash was labelled 'predictable' by one royal expert but the Duke of Sussex's spokesman has knocked back any suggestion his announcement was about sibling rivalry."
Harry's team explained the timing is due to his limited security arrangements compared to other senior royals. As a result, the window to publicize his engagements is much shorter than those of the King or the Prince of Wales.
"'It means therefore, that the period of time in which we can release details of events is much more truncated than it is for His Majesty the King or the Prince of Wales,' his spokesman added."
The Prince of Wales arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Monday to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Earthshot Prize, an environmental award he founded. While William began his official duties at Sugarloaf Mountain, Prince Harry’s office announced his upcoming Canada visit ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
Prince Harry refutes claims of sibling rivalry, attributing his event announcements' timing to limited royal security and protection.
