The cruise ship Borealis, operated by Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, has returned to service following a two-week dry dock where it underwent significant rejuvenation. The project included both technical upgrades and aesthetic improvements aimed at enhancing the onboard experience.
As part of the refurbishment, a new open-air lounging area named Fresco was introduced on deck 8. The vessel, accommodating 1,353 passengers, also saw modernized stage equipment in The Neptune Lounge, featuring upgraded lighting, sound systems, and new aerial silks.
These changes coincide with Fred Olsen’s new entertainment partnership with RWS Global, set to debut on April 30, 2026.
Public areas, including The Observatory, The View, and the specialty restaurant Colours & Tastes, received updated decor. Additional upgrades included new cabin doors, modern key card systems, and a completely new phone network across the ship.
“We are delighted to welcome guests back on board Borealis following her successful dry-dock period. This investment underscores our ongoing commitment to enhancing the guest experience and proudly maintaining our fleet of classic, smaller ships for many more years of service.”
Stimpson added that the dry-dock programme was essential for performing key technical and mechanical maintenance, ensuring that Borealis continues operating efficiently and responsibly.
The Borealis returns refreshed, featuring new leisure spaces, advanced technology, and upgraded facilities, reinforcing Fred Olsen Cruise Lines’ dedication to guest comfort and fleet longevity.
