Hayley Williams unveiled “Showbiz,” a surprise addition to her third solo album, Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party, officially released on vinyl today. This new song follows previous surprise tracks “Good Ol Days” and “Parachute,” which were added after the initial summer release of 17 songs by Williams’ label, Post Atlantic, and distributed by Secretly Distribution.
Williams co-wrote “Showbiz” with producer and collaborator Daniel James, who contributed throughout the entire album. The song narrates a romantic night in a club, captured through Williams' vivid and intimate lyrics:
“I wanna do it again / I wanna dance in the strobe lights / I wanna choke on the smoke / And feel your eyes on me.”
She then expresses uncertainty about whether the moment held the same meaning for the other person involved.
The visualizer accompanying “Showbiz” includes the Nashville skyline and features the distinctive scribbles that have appeared in the album's artwork, adding a familiar artistic touch.
Record stores worldwide marked the physical release of Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party with “Ego Nite,” an event featuring record playback, exclusive merchandise, and physical LP copies for fans.
“Ego Nite” was held last night at various record stores globally to celebrate the album’s launch.
