Shoshana Bean Shares Why She Hasn't Watched the First 'Wicked' Movie Yet

Shoshana Bean, former Broadway star known for playing Elphaba in Wicked from 2005 to 2006, revealed why she hasn’t seen Wicked: Part 1 even though the sequel, Wicked: For Good, is set to hit theaters soon.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the New York Restoration Project Hulaween Gala on October 24, Bean explained her decision to wait.

"I waited until the second, so I could watch them back-to-back," Bean, 48, shared, adding she is "absolutely" excited to experience both films in succession.

One of her highlights is seeing the song “No Good Deed” brought to the big screen.

"It’s a very cinematic song, and I would love to see it have more life than what a stage is capable of doing," Bean said. "I could not even possibly imagine to the extent that Jon Chu’s genius can dream, can create."

Excitement for the Film Adaptation

Bean’s enthusiasm reflects the anticipation for the movies, especially the chance to witness musical moments in a new cinematic form, showcasing creativity beyond the stage.

With the release of Wicked: For Good in November, fans like Bean look forward to seeing the beloved story expanded on screen.

Author's summary: Shoshana Bean delayed watching Wicked: Part 1 to enjoy both films consecutively and is eager to see stage songs like “No Good Deed” come alive through innovative film direction.
