Senators Jacky Rosen and Catherine Cortez Masto released statements after supporting a deal to reopen the government following a rare Sunday Senate session. This agreement was reached despite no guaranteed extension for health care subsidies.
During the shutdown, many Democrats, including Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto, have been actively opposing the increase in health care expenses.
Senator Jacky Rosen said, "President Trump and Republicans are weaponizing their power to bring suffering to working people."
She also affirmed her commitment to fight for the extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits after her vote.
"I know the pain people are feeling during the government shutdown," said Senator Cortez Masto.
She expressed her intention to focus on passing a full, bipartisan budget for 2026, aiming to restore funding cuts made by President Trump once the government reopens.
Both Nevada senators voted to end the shutdown, emphasizing their commitment to healthcare affordability and a bipartisan budget restoration.
