Yeovil MP Adam Dance is urging for stronger support for domestic abuse victims, calling for more funding and action beyond the Sentencing Bill reforms.
During Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, Mr Dance made this plea after receiving a government response to his Parliamentary question on the Sentencing Bill.
The Bill would introduce a new judicial finding of domestic abuse at sentencing, aiming to ensure better identification and monitoring of offenders.
The government also stated that the Bill would grant judges more discretion to impose immediate custody in cases involving significant risk of harm, including domestic abuse.
Mr Dance's concerns about victim protection arose after the government's response, prompting him to call for more action to support domestic abuse victims.
