GIRLS GOLF: Dakota’s Monteith keeps rising charts with a bullet

Girls Golf: Dakota's Monteith on the Rise

Marissa Monteith, a junior at Macomb Dakota, has been making a name for herself in girls golf.

When Monteith was in eighth grade, her parents gave her an ultimatum: if she was going to give up softball, she would still have to play a school sport.

"My grandpa lives on a golf course and I've played golf for fun growing up. I guess I was pretty good at it, but never really took it seriously,"

recalled Monteith. She added that she never took golf seriously until she got to high school, where she tried out for the golf team.

"My parents said there was no way I would just sit around after school and not do anything,"

she said. Monteith is now rising through the charts, with a promising future in golf ahead of her.
