Junior Annet Lopez-Pinedo, a student at Godwin Heights High School, has earned a Youth Award from the Committee to Honor César E. Chávez for her exceptional leadership skills.
Annet, who owns her own bakery, Annet Sweets, compares leadership to baking cake pops, emphasizing the importance of balance.
The dough can’t be too heavy or it falls off the stick, and the chocolate can’t be too thin or it’ll break, she said.
According to Annet, leadership is not just about being followed, but about
inspiring and helping others reach their goals. She strives to empower others to become leaders themselves, rather than simply following her.
Annet's leadership principles align with those of César E. Chávez, which include service, justice, and nonviolence. Her award is a testament to her dedication to these values.
