A hypothetical scenario where Canada built the Northern Gateway, Energy East, and Keystone XL pipelines would have added approximately 2.5 million barrels of oil a day in pipeline export capacity.

This would generate $55 billion in revenues, equivalent to more than one per cent of Canada's gross domestic product (GDP) annually, making balancing the budget easier.

There’s an alternate reality where Canada — rather than engaging in economic self-destruction — had built the Northern Gateway, Energy East and Keystone XL pipelines.
