MPC Holds Policy Rate at 26% as Inflation Pressures Persist

The Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has maintained the Policy Rate at 26.0 percent following its fourth Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting of 2025.

The Committee also kept the Lombard Rate at 20 basis points above the Policy Rate and retained the Liquidity Reserve Requirement (LRR) at 10.0 percent for domestic currency deposits and 3.75 percent for foreign currency deposits.

The annual inflation forecast was revised slightly upward to 28.9 percent from 28 percent.

Author's summary: MPC keeps policy rate unchanged at 26% due to inflation.
