The village of Waterloo, which supplies water to most of Seneca County, may step back from running the system, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Mayor Walter Bennett stated that the village supports the new county water authority and wants to explore contracts that shift control, billing, and maintenance away from Waterloo's small staff.
Currently, the village serves more customers outside its borders than within. Officials believe the move could ease strain on local taxpayers and help the authority grow into a countywide utility.
However, any changes are still years away.
