South Africa bounced back strongly to equalize the three-match ODI series at 1-1 by defeating Pakistan by eight wickets in the second game at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium on Thursday night.
Chasing 270, South Africa made light work of Pakistan’s bowling attack, finishing at 270 for 2 in just 40.1 overs. Quinton de Kock led the charge with a brilliant unbeaten 123 off 119 balls, striking eight fours and seven sixes.
He received excellent support from Tony de Zorzi, who scored a fluent 76 off 63 balls. Their second-wicket partnership yielded 153 runs, effectively putting the game out of Pakistan’s reach.
The openers set a solid platform, with Lhuan-dre Pretorius contributing a brisk 46 off 40 balls before falling to Mohammad Wasim Jr.
Despite multiple bowling changes and reviews, Pakistan lacked penetration and control. No bowler was able to maintain consistent pressure as South Africa dominated the scoring throughout the innings.
Earlier, Pakistan struggled to build momentum with the bat and managed only 269 for 9 in their 50 overs, a below-par total given the batting-friendly conditions.
"They level the series 1-1 with the final scheduled for Saturday."
South Africa’s dominant victory sets up a decisive third ODI in the series.
