Claressa Shields, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and five-division professional boxing champion, continues to elevate women's boxing. The Flint native announced on Thursday that she signed a multi-fight contract guaranteeing her at least $8 million, potentially the most lucrative deal ever for a female boxer.
The exact number of fights included in the agreement and the dates or locations of her upcoming matches have not been disclosed. Shields expressed her intention to return to the ring early in 2026. This new deal is with her longtime promoter Salita Promotions and also involves Wynn Records, a leading company in music promotion.
“This deal represents more than just a contract, it’s a statement,” Shields said. “I’ve fought my entire career to prove that women’s boxing deserves equal respect, equal pay, and equal opportunity. Partnering with Salita Promotions and Wynn Records gives me the platform to keep breaking barriers inside and outside the ring. Together, we’re building something that’s never been done before.”
At 30 years old, Shields last competed in July at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit against New Zealand's Lani Daniels, drawing over 15,000 fans. With her unanimous decision victory, Shields improved her professional record to 17-0 while keeping all five of her championship belts.
Considered the greatest female boxer of all time, Shields stands 5-foot-8 and has continuously pushed standards for women in the sport.
