Edinburgh Trams will mark Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November) to honor those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, and recent conflicts. To recognize the sacrifices of armed forces members, Edinburgh Trams will offer free travel to veterans and active Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel on both days. This offer is available upon showing a military ID or wearing a uniform.
Prior to the commemorations, representatives from Poppy Scotland will be at the Haymarket tram stop selling poppies for those who wish to purchase them. Poppies will also be displayed in tram windows throughout the period.
Where safety permits, tram services will pause at 11 a.m. on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day to observe a two-minute silence as a gesture of respect.
“Each year I am proud to show our support at Edinburgh Trams on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. As a former veteran myself, and a number of our colleagues being former service men and women, we are passionate about paying tribute to all of those who have paid the ultimate price throughout the years while serving our country.”
Summary: Edinburgh Trams honors fallen service members with free travel for military personnel, poppy sales, and a two-minute silence during Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day.
