Canada's nuclear regulator has authorized Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to begin operating a new building at its Western Waste Management Facility.
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) confirmed that the new Multi-Purpose Storage Building meets design specifications and is fit for purpose, according to the commissioning report.
The Western Waste Management Facility, licensed to OPG, handles low- and intermediate-level waste from the Darlington, Pickering, and Bruce Power nuclear stations, and stores all used fuel from Bruce Power's operations.
