Duffer Brothers Respond to Bullying Claims at ‘Stranger Things’ Premiere

Director and executive producer Shawn Levy has described some of the stories from a viral report, which alleges that Millie Bobby Brown accused co-star David Harbour of harassment and bullying, as “wildly inaccurate.”

The press tour for the final season of Stranger Things began on Monday, but Netflix has avoided addressing a viral report claiming Brown accused Harbour of bullying on set.

Despite these claims, Brown and Harbour appeared cheerful together at the season five world premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday evening.

Creators’ Statement on Set Environment

“Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.” — Ross Duffer, co-creator of Stranger Things

Shawn Levy on Managing Bullying Complaints

At the premiere, Shawn Levy was asked how the production addresses bullying complaints and ensures a safe and respectful environment.

“At the end of the day, that’s the job. You have to create a respectful workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and so we did everything to build that environment. And we’re proud of the fact that we did so.” — Shawn Levy, director and executive producer
