According to recent data, between 2018 and 2023, antibiotic resistance increased for over 40% of commonly used antibiotics worldwide, with an average annual increase of 5-15%.
In Sweden, the situation is currently "reasonably good," but antibiotic-resistant bacteria are also on the rise. As Anja Rosdahl, a specialist in infectious diseases in Örebro county, notes:
