Elders and Youth Conference Underway in Anchorage

People of all ages from across Alaska gathered at the Dena'ina Center in Anchorage for the 42nd annual Elders and Youth Conference.

The conference, described as "a gathering that centers elders and youth in Native ways of knowing and being," aims to bridge the gap between generations.

This gathering is like a bridge between the elders and youth," said Jocelyn Pili. "It's important to give them that space to connect and have that space for culture.

Pili emphasized the importance of language, noting that the conference focuses on a specific language each year. This year's language of focus is Inupiaq.

The conference provides a unique opportunity for elders and youth to come together, share their experiences, and learn from each other.
