Over 4,000 cases of Coca-Cola products have been recalled due to possible metal contamination in the cans.
The recall affects packages of Coca-Cola, Coke Zero, and Sprite available in Texas, distributed by Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages LLC.
A Class II recall is considered “a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote,”
according to the FDA website. This recall is classified as a Class II, the second-most serious on the FDA's three-tier scale, due to the potential presence of foreign material (metal) in the product.
The FDA did not issue a press release regarding the recall, but it is listed on their website as a necessary measure to prevent possible health consequences.
