Pavel Zacha scored with 5.6 seconds left in overtime, leading the Boston Bruins to a 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators at TD Garden on Thursday. This win extended Boston’s streak to five consecutive victories.
Charlie McAvoy retrieved a loose puck in the left corner and maneuvered across the zone before firing a shot along the goal line. Linus Ullmark saved the initial attempt, but the rebound lingered near the right post where Zacha capitalized and scored.
For Ottawa, Claude Giroux scored and assisted, while Michael Amadio also found the net. Ullmark made 22 saves for the Senators, whose record fell to 6-5-3 after not playing since their 4-3 overtime defeat at Montreal on Saturday.
Amadio opened scoring for Ottawa at 5:42 of the first period. Shane Pinto received a short pass from Giroux at the offensive blue line, entered on a 2-on-1 break, and passed to Amadio, who scored glove side with a quick wrist shot.
Boston tied it 1-1 early in the second period at 1:22 when Geekie jammed in a rebound near the left post. The rebound came after Peeke’s slap shot from the top of the right circle slipped under Ullmark’s blocker.
"Zacha’s late goal capped off a thrilling overtime win, showcasing Boston’s resilience and skill down the stretch."
Geekie's play also helped the Bruins hold possession with an aggressive forecheck, making a strong impact throughout the contest.
The Bruins’ late-game effort and strong team play have fueled a five-game winning streak, highlighted by Zacha’s crucial overtime goal against the Senators.
