The State of Alaska has started distributing disaster relief payments, exceeding $217,000 as of Friday, to residents of western Alaska affected by storm damage from ex-Typhoon Halong.
Over 940 applications for state individual assistance have been received, according to the Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Applications are available on the state's website until November 9.
To assist storm evacuees who lost identification or essential documents, the Alaska Department of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Health have set up booths at emergency evacuation shelters in Anchorage to provide replacements. The Association of Village Council Presidents is also offering tribal IDs in the shelters.
